London Unfolded... #CocorosingIt in Shoreditch

London. As one of the world’s most vibrant and cosmopolitan cities, it’s no wonder that our capital is a source of inspiration, from technology and entrepreneurial start-ups to art, fashion and film.

Drawing on our own London roots, we’ve named each of our shoes after some of our favourite areas, from Bayswater to Shoreditch and Kensington to Hampstead. Let us take you on a tour of London with the latest in our series of blog posts that will explore the different areas our city has to offer. We hope we will inspire you to pick up your Oyster card, slip on your Cocorose shoes and see what our amazing city has to offer you. Today its Shoreditch, East London #LondonUnfolded

Shoreditch and its surrounding areas is a haven for entrepreneurs, and this is where it all started for Cocorose London....

This historical east London district lies just a stone's throw north of The City. From England's first theatre built in 1576 to a thriving furniture industry, a textile industry centred around Spitalfields, and theatres and music halls, this area has long been London's spiritual home of creative industry and the arts. Although the theatres and music halls are long gone, the textile industry's legacy lives on in Old Spitalfields Market and the nearby Brick Lane and Truman Brewery Markets, where you can find contemporary and vintage fashion and jewellery, arts and crafts and much more, most of which are designed and made by the market traders themselves.

Much may have changed over the centuries, with the area's fortunes rising, falling and rising again, but its entrepreneurial spirit has survived through the ages and today's fortunes are centred on tech start ups, speciality coffee roasters, gourmet street food, art galleries and independent designers. A fitting place then, for Cocorose London's debut way back in 2008!

There's a whole load of places to explore in this dynamic and inspirational area, so slip on your Cocoroses and have a wander around Shoreditch and its surrounding areas... the birthplace of Cocorose London and where it all began for us.

Happy Cocorosing!

xx
