London Unfolded… #CocorosingIt in White City

London. As one of the world’s most vibrant and cosmopolitan cities, it’s no wonder that our capital is a source of inspiration, from technology and entrepreneurial start-ups to art, fashion and film.

Drawing on our own London roots, we’ve named each of our shoes after some of our favourite areas, from Bayswater to Shoreditch and Kensington to Hampstead. Let us take you on a tour of London with the latest in our series of blog posts that will explore the different areas our city has to offer. Perhaps best known nowadays as the home of the BBC buildings, Queens Park Rangers Football Stadium and Westfield London, White City in the northern part of Shepherds Bush was covered by arable fields until 1908, when the summer Olympics came to the capital. In true London style, these Games played a defining role on the world stage. With the starting line at Windsor Castle and the finishing line in front of the royal box in the stadium (where the BBC buildings currently stand), this became the official distance that athletes now run in the modern marathon.

White City has reinvented itself since the Games, with the BBC buildings, Queens Park Rangers Football Stadium and of course, Westfield London who plays host to numerous fashion brands.

Our White City lifestyle trainers have been inspired by the area, celebrating the link between sports and fashion.

Although the Great Stadium was demolished in 1985, the finishing line for the 1908 Olympic marathon can still be seen today, marked by a commemorative marker on the pavement outside of the BBC buildings. Next time you're Cocorosing it around White City, why not have a look at the old finishing line and the medal table, listed on the wall nearby.
