Our Trip to The Savill Garden, Windsor Great Park

Elin at The Savill Garden, Windsor Great Park

Elin and I visited The Savill Garden in Windsor Great Park the other day. It's a beautiful and so incredibly peaceful space to visit plus there's no shortage of grounds for busy little toddlers to run around and explore!

The sculpture exhibition was on and one of my favourites was Pigasus the flying pig. Elin loved the hare with the gold leaf ears. The sculptures were dotted around the whole of the garden so we went on a little sculpture hunt, to try and find them all. They were just magnificent.

I always love visiting rose gardens and this was a joy to walk through, although with the changing of the seasons, it wasn't at its peak. I can imagine in the heat of the summer, the sight and scent of the roses must have been incredible.

The secret garden was also a favourite area of ours. We missed it first time round (it is secret, afterall!) but thankfully chanced upon it later on. It's utterly charming, with wooden benches to sit and enjoy your sandwich or to just sit and ponder a few thoughts. The little fountain is wonderful too.

We had lunch in The Savill Kitchen and on entering, I scanned in with the Track & Trace app. I was also pleased to see the tables were properly socially distanced. Elin and I shared a pizza for lunch to recharge our batteries before heading back into the garden for more exploring.

There was a tiny little stream that we discovered and Elin loved picking up acorns and throwing them into the stream. That kept her busy for quite some time!

A duck flashed its blue feather and let us take a photo... I should have bought a lottery ticket!

The much bigger streams were filled with huge fish and ducks and this little duck actually waddled out of the water for us, flashed its blue feather and let us take a photo... I should have bought a lottery ticket!

As with all institutions and public spaces nowadays, wearing a face covering is absolutely mandatory when entering a building or enclosed space so please don't forget yours! We have a gorgeous collection for you to choose from, whether it be plain, gingham, floral, polka dots, curved and contoured or pleated or cotton or silk. Have a look here for yours.

I'm definitely planning on heading back again. The Autumn Wood and Winter Garden sound perfect, as long as we can have a hot chocolate from the Kitchen to keep ourselves toasty and energised!
