In Julie's Shoes

In Your Shoes

We're often asked, "Who is the Cocorose Woman"? But the truth is, our customers aren't a marketing persona and so we don't just have one. Our campaign "In Your Shoes" tells the wonderful stories of our Cocorosers, from all walks of life and from all around the world. Strong, beautiful and completely unique - we can't wait to introduce you to each other.

"Nothing lasts forever," Julie tells me reassuringly, as we chat about the coronavirus situation. Julie lives in tropical Queensland, Australia, and for her, getting out and about for her daily walks has been crucial for her mental health.

"Most of the time, I feel positive. There are some great walks around Queensland so each morning, I put on my makeup and perfume and head off for a 6km walk with my partner. For me, getting dolled up makes it much easier to face the world!" Julie says.

Julie retired eight years ago and moved from England to Australia so she could be close to her daughter. What she wasn't expecting was the stuff of fairy tales and, after a few lonely years on her own, she met the man of her dreams in Australia ❤️

The saying "you can take a girl out of England, but you can't take England out of the girl" rings so true for Julie. She loves period dramas set in the English countryside (think Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, North and South, etc), when "polite manners were expected and the gowns were fabulous, even if they look uncomfortable to us now." To be honest, I love a good period drama too but, despite all this time over lockdown, I haven't managed to watch any as I've been on Elin duty. So Julie, you'll just have to watch them for the both of us!

As we chat about Cocorose, Julie tells me proudly that she has four pairs. Her last pair was the gorgeous Clapham Rose Gold and she tells me she can't wait for her latest pair, a leopard printed one, to arrive. She discovered the brand a number of years ago and hasn't looked back since. "I'm often letting my friends try mine on to see how comfy they are," she says. "And then of course, I then launch into a demo of folding them and putting them into their little pouch."

"I always travel in my black Wimbledon with Gems as they're so comfortable and easy to tuck away for long journeys. If I'm on the plane, my feet also swell and I can just pop these little darlings back on in a flash."

Plane journeys seem like such a distant memory at the moment and a luxury that I fear we won't be able to experience any time soon. But, putting my positive hat on, there are already talks of opening up the world again so maybe we're not that far off and hopefully we'll all be able to travel again soon. Afterall, nothing lasts forever, right?
