New White and Grey Trainers + True Story!
Hello Cocorosers 💗
To celebrate this International Women's Day, I'd like to tell you a story about a woman who never gave in and never gave up. Her extraordinary story is an inspiration, and just proves that if you believe and have fire in your belly, then You Will. Scroll down to discover more.
I LOVE these New In Hoxton Grey and White Striped trainers. Many of you will know that I'm a huge fan of grey, as it's such a soft neutral that works hard and pairs beautifully. I chose to use a soft, grey suede for this style, which adds texture and a feminine edge whilst easily transcending the seasons.
And finally, scroll down for our gorgeous candles. All hand-made using sustainable ingredients.
Thank you, as ever, for your support and sending you lots of love,
Janan & Team Cocorose xx

TRUE STORY
Some of you may have heard about Lesley Paterson - or indeed, watched her BAFTA-winning film All Quiet on the Western Front. Prior to winning, however, it certainly wasn't all red carpet galas to begin with, although she was well versed in winning triathlons and being world champion.
Sixteen years ago, having retired from the sport, Lesley moved from Scotland to LA to become a scriptwriter. She bought the rights to the film and basically started pitching her idea, although noone actually invested. Funds were running out and so, rather than giving up, she went back to competing in order to fund her dream with the prize money she would win.
In 2015, the film rights were up for renewal again and by this time, Lesley had run out of money. So she took her chance and entered another triathlon but the day before the race, she fell and broke her shoulder. Absolutely undeterred, the following day, she strapped up and ran, swam and cycled (yes, all with 1 arm!) and, would you believe, she won! The prize money was just enough to renew the rights again and keep her dream alive.
In the subsequent years, she won two further races and pumped in her prize winnings plus she remortgaged her home, all the while still believing she could make the film.
And make it she did with Netflix. The rest, as they say, is history.
What an unbelievable achievement. The incredible power of self belief and the passion to realise your dreams.
AS SEEN IN
As part of this year's IWD, I was recently selected by The Mayfair Musings magazine to be part of their Female Founders business feature and to help inspire others to not give up by speaking about some of the biggest challenges we've faced in business. For me, forever the optimist, a huge challenge was trying to find the balance between optimism and reality and ensuring that I would be self sufficient and financially independent before jumping in at the deep end!
